Biking

Take the whole family for a bike ride!

From park trails to the green bike lanes and bike boxes along North Avenue, the city’s main thoroughfare, Wauwatosa is a scenic, cyclist-friendly village.

The Oak Leaf Trail is a 100+mile biker’s, runner’s and walker’s paradise encircling Milwaukee County. The scenery along this spectacular trail network is outstanding and ever-changing. Follow the trail along the Menomonee River through Wauwatosa, going through the natural beauty of Hoyt Park. Let the trail lead you north to Currie Park, or continue west to find where it connects to the Brookfield Greenway Trail.

The Hank Aaron State Trail stretches from the lakefront to Miller Park and beyond. Enjoy a mix of urban settings and natural scenes on this trail which runs west from Lake Shore State Park then along the river and on dedicated trails for more than 6 miles.

Didn’t bring a bike along? No problem! The Bublr Bikes bike share system makes it easy to explore on a rented bicycle. Rent from one of the several Tosa stations for a quick, easy way to get around town.

You won’t want to miss the East Tosa Gran Prix bike race at the end of June, one of the largest competitive cycling events in the country, drawing 10,000 or more spectators. North Avenue in East Tosa is closed as cyclists ride in short loop racing, or criterium, on this main arterial. Local North Avenue businesses in East Tosa have made it into a street festival with food and music attracting spectators from around the region.
